Cluain Ghrianach

Situated on the banks of Loch Sunart in the Western Highlands of Scotland, this house is designed to accommodate 6 people as a holiday let or as a family home.

The form of the house draws influence from local house types and vernacular Highland architecture.

A north facing masonry wall acts as a heat store absorbing heat from the south facing glazing overlooking the loch. The house is also heated by wood fired stoves and an open fire. Heat is conserved and recirculated by a heat exchanger system.
